San Angelo (Texas) Central dual-threat quarterback Cal Vincent earned All-District First Team honors this past season, at wide receiver. The 2017 prospect took a back seat to TCU signee Brennen Wooten who played quarterback for the Bobcats last season after transferring in from Marble Falls.

Vincent made the move to receiver and finished the season with 77 receptions, 977 yards, and eight (8) touchdowns receiving with another two (2) passing touchdowns.

"I had a heck of a year at receiver," Vincent said. "I was named First Team All-District and made the All West Texas Super Team. I have always been a quarterback though, Brennen moved in last season and now I'm going back to playing quarterback for my senior season.

"Recruiting has been kind of tough because I don't have any game film yet as a quarterback. A lot of coaches say they want to see me playing quarterback at their camp or during the beginning of this next season. The coaches do like my versatility and how I can play multiple positions. Some coaches are close to offering, but it's just hard for them to offer a prospect who hasn't played any varsity downs."

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect does hold one Division Two offer from Adams State, but a handful of programs are beginning to show interest this spring.

"I have the one D2 offer from Adams State, but there are a lot of other coaches starting to stop by the school lately," Vincent said. "Harvard and Rice have been by the school twice, Holy Cross, Tulsa, and SMU have all stopped by as well. The coaches have invited me to their camps, some are here in Texas and some are on campus.

"I'm going to try and attend camps at Harvard and Brown, those are the on campus camps. I also have plans to camp with Tulsa and Rice, but those are both here in the area."

Eager to prove himself as a standout quarterback prospect, Vincent is competing at every camp possible this off-season. He participated with 35 other quarterbacks at the NUC 3 Kings QB Camp this past weekend and walked away as the MVP.

"I did the Elite 11 combine earlier this spring in Dallas," Vincent said. "This weekend I actually won the NUC 3 Kings QB Camp. There were a lot of other quarterbacks there and several of them were prospects with several offers. I feel very confident in my ability to compete with any other quarterback, most of them just have a year of experience ahead of me.

"I think that I would probably fit best in a spread type offense where I could throw the ball around. I'm a dual-threat guy at quarterback and can make people miss in the open field."

Currently unrated, Vincent earned District 3-6A All-District First Team Offense honors this past season.
